The FreshWed Diaries: Choosing our Rings with Blue Nile

The process of choosing wedding bands is as intimate as your relationship - the bands, as unique as each of you. When it came time to choose ours, we worked with Seattle-based Blue Nile Diamond Co. to find the rings of our dreams.

Thanks for having us!

We visited Blue Nile HQ one sunny afternoon after work and were greeted by friendly faces and even friendlier glasses of champagne. I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect when we got there; I knew Blue Nile was an online retailer.

Treated to a private shopping sesh!

It felt like a true VIP private shopping experience! Amanda and Amanda selected a few rings for me and bands for him, based off of a couple of inspirational ideas we sent them from BlueNile.com.

Bubbles & all

I’m not a big jewelry person, and he doesn’t wear any, so it was a bit overwhelming to try each piece on and imagine wearing it forever. Did I want a standalone piece or something I could wear with my engagement ring? Would I fuse the two together? Diamonds along the band, one in the center, or none at all? Platinum, gold, rose gold? So many beautiful choices sparkling up at me all at once!

In the end, I chose a band that would compliment my engagement ring. People always ask me if my engagement ring was everything I dreamed it would be. To be honest, I’d never really given much thought to what it would look like. What I love most about my ring was that Jacob picked out and designed it himself.

So happy!

I also wore Blue Nile's Monique Lhuillier Diamond Leaf earrings and necklace on my big day!

Now, I’ve got a ring he designed out of love, and a band I chose that’s as multifaceted and complex as I am. He’s got a matte gold band that’s elegant yet understated - and something he can fit over his jiu-jitsu knuckles 😃

Thanks, Blue Nile, for helping us find the rings that fully express who we are!
