Dine Around Seattle Is On Through 3/26! Check Out Preservation Kitchen

Did you know that every dollar you spend at a local independent business creates three times more jobs, income, and wealth for our community than a dollar spent at a national chain? Seattle Good Business Network sure does! Its program Dine Around Seattle happens every March and December, highlighting the best of Seattle’s restaurants and contributing millions to our local economy and strengthening our community.

Rather than being limited an “appetizer, entree, dessert” format, restaurants offer three items as part of a fixed price menu, in some cases including drinks. For example, a menu offering might be a cocktail and two small plates for $22. Or a glass of wine, appetizer, and entrée for $33 (tax and gratuity tax is not included.)

There are plenty of DAS deals in our neighborhood, but we decided to kick off this one by trying some place completely new to us and way out of our normal haunts. We drove up to Bothell last night to check out Preservation Kitchen, a cozy restaurant focused on serving fresh, organic, seasonal meals that are sourced from local producers. Located in historic downtown Bothell, Preservation Kitchen makes its home in the 1916 Kaysner Estate. This building was originally home to the mayor of Bothell!

We went with the “one of everything” (a small plate, glass of wine, entree, and dessert) for $44/person. We started out with a delicious shrimp & avocado cocktail and the fried oyster along with a bourbon classic and a glass of pinot gris. It was a nice & quiet Sunday night, and we were able to catch up and debrief on another weekend of wedding planning.

Our entrees were the definition of comfort foods; he had the halibut with risotto & peas in the pod while I had the kale mushroom phyllo pie. Perfect for a cold & rainy night! We finished with the Matador dessert drink (tequila, Bailey’s, Kahlua, and cream) and tiramisu!

Special thanks to Preservation Kitchen and Dine Around Seattle for having us. You can find Dine Around Seattle deals all around the city now through March 23rd. I encourage you to check a restaurant in a neighborhood you don’t spend a lot of time in, for a nice change!
