Seattle! See Bowie by Mick Rock, Open Tomorrow at MoPOP

I am consistently impressed by the caliber of MoPOP's exhibits. Whenever they choose to feature a piece of pop culture or music - whether it's local or international, they nail it well. Tomorrow, MoPOP launches their latest exhibit, Bowie by Mick Rock.

Bowie met Mick Rock during his iconic Ziggy Stardust era, and invited him to be his personal photographer for that pivotal year and a half of his career. Rock shot Bowie in all aspects of his life - onstage, on the train, fast asleep, applying his Japanese theatre-inspired makeup, and everywhere in between. On display in the Bowie by Mick Rock exhibit are 65 of those moments captured by Rock, who went on to photograph many more celebrities and who is often referred to as "The Man Who Shot the Seventies."

It's quite extraordinary for a photographer and subject to vibe so well that, as Bowie put it, "Mick sees me the way I see myself." You can really feel that energy in this photo exhibition. I recommend taking your time to absorb each photo and caption. Whether you're a huge or a passive Bowie / Ziggy Stardust fan, you can't deny the storytelling excellence captured in these photographs.
