A Dragon Lives Here: Bruce Lee's Seattle History & Coming of Age at Wing Luke Museum
When it comes to Bruce Lee, most of us think immediately of his illustrious movie career. In "A Dragon Lives Here", Wing Luke Asian Museum's latest exhibit which premieres today, you can meet Bruce Lee the Seattleite and see all of the local neighborhoods which helped shape his legacy - and vice versa.
Each part of the exhibit highlights a Seattle neighborhood where Bruce spent a lot of time honing his craft and immersing in the community. Dozens of artifacts from the personal collections of Bruce's closest friends - like Ping and Ruby Chow, whose Chinatown restaurant he worked in when he first moved to the city (and whose restaurant he also lived above); and Taky Kimura, Bruce's good friend, and first gung fu student.
Take the time to stop at the interactive pieces of the exhibit, which walk you through visuals of Bruce's Seattle life. And make sure to read through the yellow panels designating each neighborhood - those were written by some incredible writing talents like Florangela Davila and Geo (Prometheus Brown!)
