A Fresh Start: The Year to Flourish
The first order of business in this Year to Flourish (that's my theme for the '99 & the 2016) is to fall back in love with wellness & fitness. It's at the top of my list of goals, and is the driving force behind many of my resolutions. My body craves it, my gut needs it, and yet, the latter half of last year I spent with my mind totally turned off of it.
Part of it I can definitely attribute to the time of year. I get hit by the cozy bug hard during the holidays, and getting out of bed to work out at 6:00a.m. is a monumental chore. Overall, 2015 was a tough one professionally, and managing a blog on top of that made my commitment to health & fitness waver.
When I started the Resolution Challenge in 2013, I was the heaviest I'd ever been with no intelligent approach to my diet and maybe a handful of workouts done in the year before. I kept up pretty well until the latter half of last year, and then somewhere along the line, something changed. I was really confused by a lot that was going on with For the Glow, and I let this confusion and the other emotions that came with it affect the way I approached my workouts and diet. I just shut down. The glow in me was dimming fast, and I found myself almost back to where I was when I started FTG - feeling out of shape and looking at a number on the scale I haven't seen in a long while.
I'm certainly paying for it in (loss of) muscle tone, proper diet - but more than anything, I'm regretting not speaking - and living - my truth more. I'm working so damn hard to get that glow back.
One final note - I wanted to shout out and give a special thanks to Anisa, Cara & Becca who've kept me connected to that fit life all this time. I really appreciate you!
